NATURE EXPERIENCE, FISHING A newly established nature reserve, Cwebe contains a variety of habitats - forest, grassland, mangrove and beach - which support a wide range of birds and small mammals. The wide range of birds and small mammals. The Mbanyana River is an added attraction, with its spectacular waterfalls and beautiful lagoon where Cape clawless otters may be observed. The 2 149 ha reserve is bounded to the south by the Mbashe River and from here a sandy beach, popular with anglers and shell-collectors, stretches northward. Location: Extreme eastern part of province, on the boast, east of Idutywa. Access: From Idutywa following the N2 towards Umtata for 49 km; turn right onto a gravel road and drive southwards for 23 km to Xhora (formerly Elliotdale); continue beyond Xhora, following signposts to 'The Haen'. Accommodation: Self-catering accommodation and a camping site are being developed. The Haven Hotel lies within the reserve. Other facilities: Pathways; fishing Opening time: Sunrise to sunset
